Job Objectives
As a business-oriented commercial lawyer, you will support TELUS Business Solutions’ activities across Canada in a variety of business-to-business transactions and legal matters, such as deal negotiations and agreement drafting for complex deals with major players in both the public and private sectors, as well as the small-medium business market. You will also advise on telecommunications, information technology (IT), competition, procurement, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, request for proposals, SaaS subscription agreements, software licenses, and professional services agreements, as well as data privacy, protection, and security issues.

- Provide legal advice and help on a variety of topics, including commercial contracts and corporate governance.
- Draft, examine, and negotiate a variety of agreements and legal papers.
- Assist in controlling legal risks and ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations.Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and offer realistic legal solutions.
- Strive to develop legal and commercial practices by driving new methods and process improvements while managing a large number of client matters in a timely and effective manner.
- Review and suggest enhancements to the legal support approach for TELUS engagements.
- Collaborate with our M&A team to seamlessly integrate newly acquired firms into the TELUS Business Solutions portfolio, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals and operational processes.
Salary Range: $114,000-$172,000 | Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 15%
Qualifications
- Respected for your legal expertise, business acumen, initiative, creativity, learning-oriented approach, and collaborative manner.
- Experience advising customers on structuring, developing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements and papers to support sales activities.
- familiar with IT solutions, including cloud computing, Internet of Things, information technology support services, and related privacy issues.
- Some acquaintance with new AI technologies such as Chat GPT and their use in providing legal services.
- Valued for strong analytical skills that help you address client and legal issues practically and efficiently.
- Confident in communicating and interacting with sophisticated stakeholders, both within and externally.

- Being bilingual (French and English) and able to draft, negotiate, and practice in either language is an asset.
- Called to the Bar for at least three years.
