About the Job
Reporting directly to the Managing Lawyer, Labour Law Department, Legal Services, serves as a corporate resource for NSHA and IWK as an integral member of the Labour Relations team.
Working closely with senior leaders within each client’s organization, the Labour Lawyer learns the strategic direction, values, and operational needs of each organization (NSHA and IWK) and provides sound legal advice, advocacy, representation, education, and targeted capacity development in labour law in order to support the client’s strategic objectives while also understanding and working within broader health and public sector parameters.
The Labour Lawyer interprets collective agreements, provides legal advice, and strategic direction; and analyzes and advises on complex, sensitive, and multidimensional problems, both independently and as part of the labour law team, on issues with potential operational and financial implications for the health sector and the broader public sector. The Labour Lawyer assesses and advises on grievances and serves as legal counsel in labour arbitrations and other kinds of conflict resolution. The Labour Lawyer represents clients before the Labour Board and, on occasion, in court. The labor lawyer serves as the primary negotiator for collective bargaining and vital services.

Compensation and Benefits
$51.14 – $63.92 Hourly
